TRAINING PHILOSOPHY

The decision comes before the skill. In my workouts I train heavily on defining roles, reading the floor, making quick decisions, and countering defense. I want to keep the game simple, and teach players how to be effective in their roles.

The skills to execute decision making are built within the drills. I put them in game situations that force both decision making and skill simultaneously. Once players learn how to make the right plays, their confidence is up and they become more consistent on and off the floor.

MY COACHING VALUES

I have coached games where I knew we were going to win, games where I knew we were going to lose, and games where I knew it could go either way. What I have learned is though the object of the game is to score more points, sometimes it is not physically possible and not in our control. What do I do? I coach the games within the game and win in the little things we can control.

We coach heavily on defining roles, recognizing and executing strategies, recognizing and attacking strengths and weaknesses, playing with purpose and playing with heart. Practices are high paced, high energy, and highly competitive to provoke a sense of urgency, vocal leadership, confidence and fun.
